Any vehicle light must have a maximum intensity of not more than seven hundred fifty (750) beam candlepower per lamp. ---bullet--- The colors of headlights are restricted to white or amber. The use of flashing lights is not specified. ---bullet--- In addition to at least two headlights and one tail light, vehicles in the District of Columbia are allowed to have additional lighting including not more than two fog lights (see below). ---###--- 703 LAMPS AND OTHER LIGHTING EQUIPMENT ---part-title--- The vehicles cited in § 703.4 shall be equipped as required and all lamp equipment required shall be lighted at the times mentioned in this section, Provided, that clearance and side marker lamps need not be lighted on any such vehicle when operated where there is sufficient light to render clearly discernible persons and vehicles on the highway at a distance of five hundred feet (500 ft.). ---part--- HEADLAMPS ---part-title--- 704.4 Each head lamp on each motor vehicle, including each motorcycle and motor-driven cycle, shall be located at a height measured from the center of the head lamp of not more than fifty-four inches (54 in.) or less than twenty-four inches (24 in.) to be measured from the center of the lamp or device to the level ground on which the vehicle stands when the vehicle is without a load. ---part-bullet--- 705.2 Each vehicle of the types listed in § 705.1 registered in the District of Columbia and manufactured or assembled after September 15, 1955; other than truck tractors manufactured or assembled prior to January 1, 1968, motorcycles, and motor-driven cycles; shall be with at least two (2) tail lamps mounted on the rear, on the same level, and as widely spaced as practicable, which, when lighted as required, shall comply with the provisions of this section. ---part-bullet--- 705.3 Each tail lamp on each vehicle shall be located at a height of not more than seventy-two inches (72 in.) or less than fifteen inches (15 in.), measured from the center of the lamp to the level ground upon which the vehicle stands when the vehicle is without a load. ---part-bullet--- 714.10 Any commercial vehicle eighty inches (80 in.) or more in overall width may be equipped with not more than three (3) identification lamps showing to the front which shall emit an amber light without glare and not more than three (3) identification lamps showing to the rear which shall emit a red light without glare. These lamps shall be placed in a row and shall be mounted horizontally. ---###--- ---part-title--- 714.1 Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not more than two (2) sidecowl or fender lamps which shall emit an amber or white light without glare. ---part-bullet--- 714.2 Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not more than one (1) running-board courtesy lamp on each side of the vehicle which shall emit white or amber light without glare. ---###--- ---part-title--- 711.2 Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not more than two (2) fog lamps mounted on the front at a height not less than twelve inches (12 in.) or more than thirty inches (30 in.) above the level surface upon which the vehicle stands and so aimed that when the vehicle is not loaded none of the high-intensity portion of the light to the left of the center of the vehicle shall at a distance of twenty-five feet (25 ft.) ahead project higher than a level of four inches (4 in.) below the level of the center of the lamp from which it comes.
